Care-educational technologies in newborn care: an integrative review
Abstract: To identify the educational technologies used by health professionals when working with family members on newborn care in Primary Health Care (PHC) settings. Integrative literature review, carried out between June and October 2023 in the LILACS, MEDLINE, SciVerse Scopus and Web of Science data sources. Sixteen primary studies were included. Audiovisual technologies and digital resources were the most used, and the topics frequently covered were infant hygiene, breastfeeding, safe sleep, recognition of warning signs and jaundice, as well as immunizations, newborn screening, umbilical cord care, crying, child development, and positive parenting. The synthesis of scientific evidence on educational technologies aimed at newborn care can support health professionals in childcare consultations carried out in PHC settings. Additionally, it can significantly contribute to enhancing the educational process for family members, potentially impacting infant morbidity and mortality.
